North Platte Pow Wow
North Platte, Nebraska - March 18, 2024 - The North Platte Pow Wow is proud to announce the addition of a vibrant parade to this year's festivities, scheduled to take place on July 20th, 2024. This exciting addition promises to showcase the beauty, diversity, and spirit of Indigenous cultures in a dynamic procession.
Led by the North Platte Pow Wow Committee, the North Platte Pow Wow Parade will feature a dazzling array of participants, including Indigenous dancers, community organizations, honored veterans and decorated floats. Spectators can expect a feast for the senses as the parade winds its way around the Wild West Arena.
"We are thrilled to introduce the North Platte Pow Wow Parade as a highlight of this year's event," said Char Swalberg, Organizer. "The parade provides a unique opportunity for participants to share their culture with the community and for spectators to experience the vibrancy and diversity of Indigenous traditions up close."
The parade route will begin on Charlie Evans Drive and proceed along Scout’s Rest Ranch Road, along Buffalo Bill Avenue and back to Charlie Evans Drive, offering ample viewing opportunities for all. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early to secure their spot along the parade route and to immerse themselves in the sights and sounds of this celebration of Indigenous culture.
In addition to the parade, attendees can enjoy a full day of activities at the North Platte Pow Wow, including dance performances, cultural exhibits, arts and crafts vendors, and traditional Native American foods. Immediately following the parade, guests can grab a Buffalo Butter Burger at the Lincoln County Historical Museum, followed by the North Platte Pow Wow Grand Entry Afternoon Session at Buffalo Bill’s Ranch.
