Geraldine Louise “Gerry” Swarthout, 94, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away April 4, 2023 at Great Plains Health in North Platte. She was born February 10, 1929 to John and Ethel (Detty) Favinger in Wallace, Nebraska.

She grew up in Wallace.  Geraldine worked at the Pawnee Hotel and a local dress shop in North Platte.  On August 17, 1970 she was united in marriage to Finton Swarthout in Newcastle, Wyoming.  Finton preceded her in death on August 22, 1997.  Gerry’s favorite pastime was shopping and fashionable clothes. Faith was very important to her and she was a prayer warrior at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg.  She enjoyed dancing, birds, and illuminated flowers.  Gerry will always be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother.  She cherished spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Linda Kaldenberg, Littleton, Colorado, Larry (Rochelle) Fletcher, North Platte, Nebraska, Russ (fiancé Launa Erickson) McCarter, Ramsey, Minnesota, Lori Sargent, North Platte, Nebraska; grandchildren, Cindy Miller, Angie (Chris) Orlowski, Matt Kaldenberg, Travis (Liz) Fletcher, Teresa (fiance’ Austin Kramer) Evans, Hunter (Ronnell) Swain, Lakyn (Jamil) Alexis, Sawyer McCarter, Cayd McCarter, Eric Sargent, Jacob Sargent, Casey (Tacey) Sargent; great-grandchildren, Dakota (Drew), MaKenna, Brayden, Kaleigh, Kaden, Rowan, Wren, Lainee, Logan, Coltan, Mia, Leilani, Laylah, R.J., Eliana, Ja’Naya, JaeLani, Aevyn, Willow, Quincy, Kai Michael, Leilani Jo, Liam, Peyton, Tripp, Renley Mae; 1 great-great grandchild, Scarlett; along with numerous other family members and many friends.

Geraldine is preceded in death by her parents, John and Ethel Favinger; 2 infant sons, Jimmy and Gerald; siblings, Irene Wills, Donna Allen, Floyd Favinger, Oran Favinger and Lloyd Favinger; and her beloved dog Maddie.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 A.M, Friday, April 14, 2023 at Bethel Church with Rev. Geoff Safford officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska.  Visitation will be from noon to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, April 13, with family receiving friends from 5 – 7, at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.
