Arta Jean Kramer (1941-2021)

Arta “Jean” (Johnson) Kramer, age 80, of Stapleton, Nebraska passed away May 3, 2021 at NE Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska.

Arta was born February 15, 1941, in Arnold, NE to Arthur and Nedra (Breneman) Johnson. She grew up on the family farm in Gandy, NE. She graduated from the 8th grade in Gandy, NE., and attended high school at the UNSTA, NE College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis, graduating with the class of 1958. She graduated from Chadron State Teacher’s College in May 1962. In June 1962, she married Dennis Kramer at the Presbyterian Church in Stapleton, NE. For the next six years she taught Physical Education in Torrington, WY., North Platte, NE and Scottsbluff, NE. She and her husband then moved to Shamrock, TX., and worked in the motel industry. In 1970, they moved to McCook, NE where their daughter Denise was born. They also operated motels in Hereford, TX and Guymon, OK., until finally moving back to Stapleton, NE., where she and her husband worked together in custom farming. Jean continued as a substitute teacher during this time. Later on, she worked at the Vet’s Club in Stapleton.

Jean also served on the Stapleton Library Board, Golf Board and McCain Cemetery Board.

She enjoyed spending time with her daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren and spending time with her friends, and playing cards.

Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Lyle; her parents, Nedra and Arthur Johnson; 3 sisters, Janice Marie Johnson, Joan Gaites, Arlene Hill; brother-in-law’s and sister-in-laws, Donny (Dottie) Kramer, Skinner (Twyla) Kramer, Eugene (Lenora) Kramer.

Left to mourn is daughter, Denise (Todd) DiGiovanni; grandsons, Dylan and Cade DiGiovanni; brothers, Jim (Jackie) Johnson, Jerry (Donna) Johnson; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorials can be made to the family in honor of Jean.

Memorial service was held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home.  Inurnment will be at a later date. The service was livestreamed on the Adams & Swanson Facebook page for those unable to attend. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte, Nebraska was in charge of arrangements
