North Platte Police Issue 38 Citations, Make Multiple Arrests During Distracted Driving Enforcement Campaign

From April 9th through April 13th, the North Platte Police Department participated in the U Drive. U Text. U Pay, high visibility traffic enforcement campaign sponsored by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, NHTSA and the Nebraska Department of Transportation, NDOT.

On 04-11-26, NPPD teamed up with the NSP fixed wing aircraft and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office in a selective traffic enforcement on S. Hwy #83.

Department wide, 127 traffic contacts were made. 38 total citations were issued, which included 7 charges for speeding, 6 for traffic signals, 4 for driving under suspension/operator’s license violations, one was an offense for Felony DUS. Sixteen people were charged with having no current registrations and insurance.

Three people were arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. One person was arrested for DUI/Drugs and Possession of a Controlled Substance a class IV Felony, which lead to the seizure of 33 pills. One person was charged with having an open container of alcohol.

Six people were apprehended on fugitive warrants, one of which was a Felony violation from the state of Kansas.
