     Kenneth Garner was born on May 6, 1947 in Somerset, Nebraska to the late Richard and Elizabeth Garner. 
     Ken joined the Marine Corps in July of 1966 until his retirement from the military in September of 1989.  On May 9, 1969, he married the love of his life, Deborah M. Garner.  They decided to move to Chadron, Nebraska in 2009 where they had the Blue Moon Stables.  After retiring from their daily jobs, they renamed it "LZ1" and this started their involvement in the community.
     Kenneth is survived by his daughters, Sheri (Randy) Russell of Ohio, Mona Hill of Maryland and Tamorah (Timothy) Brauer of Texas; his son, Kenneth Joe (Chris) Garner of Maryland; 11 grand children, 18 great grandchildren; 4 foster grandchildren, Kayden, Mylee, Harlan, and Case Kristad; brothers, Gary (Phylis) Garner of Gothenburg, Nebraska, Glenn (Stacy) Garner of Mullen, Nebraska, Allen (Jeanie) Garner of Kearney, Nebraska, and Donald Garner of Iowa; a sister, Mary Ann (Nick) Rudolff of Crawford, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Joe Brown of LaVista, Nebraska; and sister-in-law, Shirley Garner of Lincoln, Nebraska.
     He is preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Garner; parent-in-laws, Luther and Myrtle Thomas; and his siblings Douglas Garner, Joyce Mizner, and Ruth Brown.
     Services will be held at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Chadron, Nebraska on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. MST.
     Interment with full Military Honors will be held at the Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. CST.
     A memorial has been established for the VFW, Dawes County Veterans' Honor Guard, or Our Savior Lutheran Church of Chadron.  Donations may be sent in care of Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, Nebraska 69337.
