NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — The City of North Platte is reminding property owners to continue maintaining their properties throughout the growing season to help keep the community clean, safe and attractive.

Under the City of North Platte Code of Ordinances, weeds and other vegetation must be kept below 12 inches in height on all properties. The requirement also applies to vegetation growing in streets and alleys adjacent to a property.

The city's weed and vegetation regulations are in effect each year from April 1 through Oct. 30. Property owners and others responsible for maintaining a property are asked to remove, cut or otherwise control weeds to remain in compliance.

City officials say regular maintenance helps improve neighborhood appearance while also supporting the health and safety of the community.

Residents can review the city's ordinances by visiting www.northplattene.gov/ordinance.

Questions about the Weed Vegetation Abatement Ordinance can be directed to the City Planning Department's Code Compliance Division at 211 W. Third St. or by calling (308) 535-6724, ext. 3218 or 3249.

Residents can also report weed violations and other city code concerns online at www.northplattene.gov/codeviolation.

To receive future city notifications by email, text message or both, residents can sign up through the city's notification system at www.northplattene.gov/notify.
