
Janice Rae (Wonka) Jones, 83, of North Platte passed away February 12, 2026 at home. She was born on June 6, 1942 at St. Mary’s Hospital to Adolph and Eleanor Wonka in North Platte.
Janice attended North Platte High School and graduated with the class of 1960. She was united in marriage to Thomas W. Jones, Sr. on June 23, 1960, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The couple lived in Lincoln, Milford, Seward, and North Platte. Janice and Tom had four children: Tommy, Shari, Amy, and Christopher.
Janice and Tom had many businesses including Rocket Reproduction, Tour Ice, Tom Jones Construction, and Jan’s Blueprinting. Later, Jan worked at Jefferson School, and then as a banquet waitress for Canteen Bar and Grill for over 20 years. She also worked as a cafeteria chef at St. Patrick’s High School.
Janice had many adventures in life and loved going to brandings, the state fair, and entertaining in her back yard. She loved to go gambling with her sister. Her greatest love in life was her family and especially her grandchildren, they were her whole world.
Survivors include her children, Tommy Jones, Shari Jones, Amy (Jake) McGill, Christopher (Amber) Gosnell; grandchildren, Bobby (Chrissy) Jones, Brandon Jones, Talan (Hannah) McGill, Sawyer McGill (Kinley), Sally McGill, Samuel and Juliet Gosnell; great grandchildren, Kelsie and Amy Jones; special daughter-in-law, Carlene Jones; brothers-in-law, Larry Vencill Sr. and Richard Fredricey; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; parents, Adolph and Eleanor Wonka; sister, Carole Vencil; in-laws, Samuel and Charlotte Jones; grandparents, Thomas and Freeda Lally, Paul and Abbie Wonka; sister-in-law, Joyce Fredricey; son-in-law, Gary Leaf.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Reverend Vidya Sagar Arikotla as Celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Rosary will be held 7:00 P.M., Monday, February 16, 2026 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Those wishing to sign the register book may do so 9:00-4:00, Monday, February 16, 2026 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
