Marvella May, age 95, of Broken Bow, NE passed away February 2, 2024, at her home in Broken Bow.
Graveside Services will be on Monday, February 5, 2024, at 1:00 pm at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Callaway, NE. The Funeral Service will be at 2:30 pm at the Evangelical Free Church in Broken Bow, NE with Pastor Tim Peterson officiating. The Funeral service will be livestreamed at www.govierbrothers.com Memorials are suggested to the Evangelical Free Church of Broken Bow, Homeward Trails, or the Arnold Baptist Church. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 4th from 1:00 to 6:00 pm with family greeting from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Govier Brothers Mortuary. Govier Brothers Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Marvella Elaine May was born on August 6, 1928, at Brunswick, NE to Lleullen and Rachel (Kahler) Hanneman. She attended school at Brunswick through part of high school then finished at Creighton, NE. Marvella went to Wayne State College for her teaching degree, she then taught at two rural schools in the Brunswick area before teaching in Callaway, NE. Here she met Rex May, and they were married on March 20, 1950. To this union, three sons were born: Richard, Leonard, and Melvin. Marvella and Rex spent most of their lives in the Cliff Table community west of Merna.
Marvella enjoyed being involved in church activities, several clubs, taking meals to Homeward Trails Bible Camp, and putting puzzles together, especially with friends at Liberty Square.
Marvella is survived by her sons; Richard (Kathy) May and their children Cory, Lisa (Marcus) Bowen, and Rochelle (Jay) Denzin; Leonard (Sue) May and their children Tim (Matt Sittel), Andy (Lauren) and Joseph; and Melvin (Bev) May and their son Matthew. Marvella is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Rex.
