The operation of UTV’s on designated North Platte streets is allowed per municipal ordinance #4080. This ordinance does not allow the operation of other vehicles. Section #71.12 specifies prohibited vehicles that cannot be operated on North Platte streets. These vehicles include:
- Snowmobiles
- Minibikes
- Golf carts
- Go-carts
- Gas or electric powered scooters
- All-terrain vehicles
- And any other off-road vehicle which cannot be registered
Sec. #71.12 of Ordinance #4080 states:
Snowmobiles, minibikes, golf carts, go-carts, gas-or electric-powered scooters, all-terrain vehicles, and any off-road or other vehicles which cannot be registered for operation on streets, highways, or roadways are generally prohibited on streets, highways, or roadways, except as hereinafter provided.
The operation of snowmobiles on public streets or highways shall be unlawful with the exception of locations where snow upon the roadway renders travel by motor vehicles impractical.
It shall be unlawful to operate any of the above-specified vehicles upon any publicly-owned parking or property within North Platte city limits unless it has been expressly authorized. The only exception to this section will be the use of scooters, power chairs, or electric wheelchairs with more than two(2) wheels that are being used by individuals with limited mobility.
The penalty for violating this section of Ordinance 4080 shall fall under Title I General Provisions under Section 10.99.
Sec. 10.99 reads as follows:
(A) Any person who violates any of the provisions of this city code, unless otherwise specifically provided herein, shall be deemed guilty of an offense and, upon conviction thereof, shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $500. A new violation shall be deemed to have been committed every 24 hours of failure to comply with the provisions of this code.
Such penalties regarding Sec. 71.12 under Ordinance 4080 until such time that it is further reviewed and/or amended.
