There is no doubt that most people in North Platte have indulged themselves at the Canteen Bar and Grille. Whether it was for daily lunch or dinner, a company Christmas party, sneaking a drink while attending a meeting at the convention center, or just to hang at the bar with Chef Lalanne, the Canteen was always hopping, and always being talked about.

After 20 years inside the Quality Inn in North Platte, the Canteen announced that their doors will be closing, effective immediately.

Citing issues with the landlord, Chef Lalanne said via Facebook that they appreciate their loyal customers and staff from over the years, citing many memories that were created for staff and customers alike.

In an effort to reduce inventory, Chef Lalanne is offering bottles of liquor, wine and beer for a discounted price, as well as food products.

Chef Lalanne said customers with outstanding gift cards can use those on the above-mentioned items.

Chef Lalanne is also asking customers to share their memories on the Canteen's Facebook page

The decision to close the doors was "heartbreaking," according to Chef Lalanne and he asked that his family and staff be kept in your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for the memories Chef Lalanne and your many staff members. And goodbye to the Mondo Christo and the two days of recovery after eating one...but it was so worth it.
