Richard Alfred "Dick" Peters (1928-2020)

Richard Alfred “Dick” Peters, age 92, of Hyannis, Nebraska passed away December 29, 2020 at Box Butte Hospital in Alliance, Nebraska. He was born April 16, 1928 to John and Lucille (Crouse) Peters in Ashby, Nebraska.

Dick was a lifelong resident of the Ashby and Hyannis area, and at age 17 went into the U.S. Navy and served during WWII.  After his discharge he married Marcella “Sally” Paige.  To this union three children were born: Rick, Tammy, and Robert.

Dick worked for Burlington Railroad for 10 years. He owned Dick’s Repair shop in Hyannis. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion.

Dick married Sharon Henderson in 1974 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple continued to live in Hyannis.

Dick was an avid antique collector and antique car collector. He organized trail rides at the Windmill County Days for a number of years.

Survivors include three children, Rick (Risa) Peters of North Platte, Nebraska,  Tammy DeVoogd of Alliance, Nebraska, and Robert (Melody) Peters of Alliance, Nebraska; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; step-children, Joyce, Jean, Jana, Clark; his horse, Divit; and several other family members and friends.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; a grandson, Waylon; his brother, Pete Peters; his sister, Sue; and a nephew, Steven.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Mountain Time, Friday, January 8, 2020 at Whitman Cemetery in Whiteman, Nebraska with Pastor Doug Lee officiating. The service will be livestreamed on the Adams & Swanson Facebook page for those not able to attend. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte, Nebraska is in charge of arrangements.
