Dallas Dean Petersen, 82, of Curtis, Nebraska, died June 30, 2024 in Curtis, NE. Dallas was born August 5, 1941 in Farnam, NE.
He was a Member of the Curtis Methodist Church, the Curtis American Legion and the Curtis Honor Guard. He served on the Curtis Airport Authority, the Curtis Telephone Company Board and the Frontier County Extension Board. He was very active with the 4H program and worked as a leader and as the Livestock Superintendent for the fair for several years. He was instrumental in getting the hometown carnival started in Curtis and participated in the Curtis Easter Pageant for many years. He enjoyed working on the farm, spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids, working on his Model A and his grandpa Nutt’s '54 Ford pickup.
Survivors include wife, Joyce Petersen of Curtis, NE; daughter, Tonia Petersen Hlavac of Lincoln, NE; son Bert Petersen and wife Deb of Curtis, NE; grandchildren Samatha Scherbarth and husband Kyle of Curtis, Dallas Petersen and wife Kaetlee of Curtis, Rachel Hlavac of Lincoln, Gavin Hlavac of Lincoln; great-grandchildren Natalie Scherbarth, Kaylee Scherbarth, Henry Scherbarth, Gabe Petersen of Curtis; sister, Joan Werkmeister of North Platte, NE.
Dallas was preceded in death by his parents Harry Christian Petersen and Winifred Mae Petersen and his brother Delmar Lee Petersen all of Curtis, NE.
Visitation will be held at Curtis Methodist Church, Curtis, Nebraska; Monday, July 8, 2024, 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm.
Services will be held at Curtis Methodist Church, July 9, 2024 at 11:00 am with Donna Johnson officiating.
Interment will follow at Fort McPherson Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to the family for later designation.
