Tracy Lillian (Pratt) Morehead, 61, of North Platte passed away at her home Feb. 3, 2024.
Tracy was born April 5, 1962, to William Ernest and Sandra Lillian (Jones) Pratt. After graduating from North Platte High School in 1980, she attended Chadron State College and was on the softball team.
On June 29, 1985, Tracy married her soul mate, Wayne E. Morehead, in North Platte. The couple lived in rural Hayes County where Tracy learned to love farm work alongside Wayne as they helped a number of farmers. Following his death in June 2003, she moved back to North Platte.
In her teens, Tracy was a member of the original Sixth Street Belles softball, which earned state titles from 1976-1980. She later volunteered for the Platte Valley Girls Softball Association. She also helped with the Special Olympics.
Tracy continued to be an avid sports fan throughout her life and enjoyed rooting for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. She also considered herself a Wallace Wildcat and Chadron Cardinal as she cheered on great-nephews Kaden, Kolton, Sawyer, great-niece Kiera and their teammates. She enjoyed hunting and being outdoors with her dog, Galaxy, running the track on her four-wheeler.
Survivors include brothers Steven (Vikki) Pratt, Michael (Merideth) Pratt, all of North Platte and their children Joell Navarette Pratt, Dezrae and Brittany Herrick and Zack, Brianna, Brendan, Shane and Jordan Pratt; Brother-in-law Terry (Vonda) Morehead of Wallace; nieces Cricket (Justin) Haag and their children Sawyer and Kiera of Chadron; Robin (Gary) Hager and their children Kaden and Kolton of Wallace; Bambi (Mike) Eitel of Denver; uncle and aunt Richard and Teresa Pratt of North Platte; Clifford and Susan Pratt of Sterling, CO and Tom ‘Clay’ and Linda Pratt of Custer, SD and numerous other relatives and friends.
Besides Wayne, she was preceded in death by her parents Ernie and Sandy Pratt; brother, William Earnest, Jr.; mother-in-law Ruth Morehead; grandparents William and Ruby Pratt, and Lester and Lillian Jones.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be at Wallace Methodist Church on Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. Inurnment will follow at the Morning View Cemetery in Wallace. Pastor Shannon Williams will officiate.
The memorial book may be signed on Feb. 13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home, 421 West 4th Street, North Platte, which is in charge of arrangements. Memorials in her name may be sent to 305 N. Schiller Ave., Wallace, Nebraska.
