LeRoy Meissner, age 72, of Culbertson, NE passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Community Hospital in McCook, NE. LeRoy was born October 31, 1948 in Quick, NE to parents Leo L. and June A. (Carroll) Meissner.
LeRoy married Dianna (Zwickle) Meissner on June 1, 1968 in McCook. The couple was blessed with two daughters: Sherri and Shauna. LeRoy enjoyed working on anything with a motor. He was always on the go and enjoyed taking a drive around on the backroads. Over the years, LeRoy was employed by Western Tire, McCook Farm Equipment and Stratton Grain Elevator.
LeRoy served his country in the United States Army from 1969 until his Honorable Discharge in 1971. He was stationed in Bamburg, Germany.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dianna Meissner; two sisters, Thelma (Pinky) Warburton and Cora Dybdahl; two brothers, James and Kenneth Meissner; sister in law, Merri Meissner; father- and mother-in-law, Harry and Golda (Roller) Zwickle; and brother-in-laws, Michael and Gary Zwickle, and granddaughter Allysha Fischer.
Those left to celebrate his life include his daughters, Sherri (Travis) Van Pelt of Indianola, NE and Shauna Meissner (Terry Carfield) of Herndon, KS; brothers, Gerald (Lynn) Meissner of Wellfleet, NE, and Carl Meissner of Broken Bow, NE; sister Joan Currier (Gary Choate) Selah, WA; and sister in law, Eugenia Meissner of Cozad, NE; four grandchildren, Tyler Van Pelt and fiancé, Brittany Broomfield, Trevor (Kelsey) Van Pelt, Ryan Van Pelt and fiancé, Emily Jacobs, and Anthony Veronee; three great grandchildren, Emersyn, Graham and one on the way; and a host of extended family members and friends.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, September 22, at 2:00 PM at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook, with visitation taking place the previous evening from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Inurnment will be held privately with family members. Carpenter Breland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
