LEXINGTON, Neb. — A North Platte man suffered serious injuries Wednesday afternoon after becoming trapped between two rail cars in an industrial area of Lexington.
The Lexington Police Department says the incident happened around 12:35 p.m. on Industrial Road. The man was caught between a stationary rail car and one that was moving, leaving him with severe injuries to his arm.
First responders from Lexington Police, Lexington Rescue, and Priority Medical arrived quickly on scene. Officers were the first to render aid.
"Officers immediately applied their tourniquet and began emergency medical lifesaving measures," the department stated.
Paramedics continued treatment before transporting the man to Lexington Regional Hospital. He was later flown to CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney for additional care.
Police say there was no derailment involved, and the scene was processed by investigators. Both Lexington Police and Union Pacific Railroad are continuing the investigation.
The POST does know the name of the injured North Platte man, but is not releasing it at this time.
