Misty Kay McDaniel was born on February 12, 1971, in O’Neill, Nebraska to Connie and Curtis Hood. Later in life, Misty gained a stepmother, Alisha, when Curtis remarried in 1986. The family then moved to Ogallala, where Misty attended school.
Misty and Kevin Davison welcomed a baby girl (Katie) into their lives on November 19th of 1995. It brought her so much joy and happiness to become a mother.
Misty worked at Hoke’s Café as a waitress for many years and later managed the kitchen at the bowling alley in Ogallala. She enjoyed fishing, and cheering on the Huskers, and she almost always solved the Wheel of Fortune puzzles before anyone else.
Later in life, Misty met Rhett Morlang and was able to find true happiness and friendship, although the two would frequently battle each other over rounds of Yahtzee. Misty had recently been able to take a camping trip and use a friend's fifth wheel, which she referred to as “glamping” because all she had known growing up and as an adult was roughing it in the tent, no matter how bad of a storm there was at Lake McConaughy.
Misty was a dear friend and mother-like figure to many, and she will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Katie Davison; Sister, Tina Graham and her daughters Jenette and Paulette, and brother Curtis Hood, half-sister Kendra Schlem (Randy) and their children Logan, Joshua, Kenian, and Heather, half-sister Brandy Rowe and her son Zachary, stepmother for many years, Alisha Siebenthal, aunts Tammi Parker, Mary Skinner, Cathy Casey and her children Ralphy and Darla, best friends Donna Crain and Lori Roberts, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, four-legged companion Buddy, and a grand puppy, Moose.
Preceding her in life, her saving grace and best friend, Rhett Morlang, her father Curtis Eugene Hood Sr, niece Kristina Hood, uncles Charles Skinner and Ralph Casey Sr, and faithful companions Zeus and Titus.
A registered book signing will be held on Monday, September 9th, 2024 from 1-3 at Draucker Funeral Home Chapel, Ogallala, Nebraska, for friends and family to gather and celebrate Misty’s life.
