
Theresa M. “Teri” Kummer of North Platte, Nebraska went to be with the Lord on February 21, 2021, at her home, with family by her side.
Teri was born on June 19, 1945, at Baltimore, Maryland to John J. and Helen R. Garrick. She grew up in Omaha, Nebraska until moving to North Platte at the age of twelve. During her teen years, she attended St. Patrick’s school and worked for her father at Johnny’s Cafe. She was united in marriage to Bill Kummer on August 24, 1962, in Taos, New Mexico. The couple then made their home in North Platte. Teri spent many years raising her four children before returning to school and graduating in 1995. Teri was employed as a Registered Nurse at Great Plains Regional Medical Center until her retirement in 2005.
She was known for her love for the Lord, and served as a prayer warrior and a spiritual advisor to her children, grandchildren and several other individuals in her life. You could always count on her for an encouraging word and a shoulder to lean on. She shared a special bond and friendship with her youngest daughter, Lisa. Teri spent many hours attending her grandchildren’s games and activities. She attended Harvest Christian Church and participated in various ministries and Bible studies during her time. She was the cornerstone for her immediate and extended family and will be sorely missed by all.
Teri is survived by her husband, Bill Kummer, Sr of North Platte, Nebraska; children, Billy, Jr (Carla) Kummer of North Platte, Nebraska, Brenda (Gary) Brooks of North Platte, Nebraska, Debra (Smoke) Cornelius of Cozad, Nebraska, and Lisa Kummer of North Platte, Nebraska; grandchildren, Austin Brooks (Sarah Ziegler), Jack Cornelius, Kylin Brooks (Brandon Cue), Molly Cornelius, Shayla Kummer, Hannah Kummer, Kaleigh Kummer and Abigail Cornelius; twin sister, Jerry Gustin of Tulsa, Oklahoma, sisters; Patricia (Paul) Kaminiski of Omaha, NE, Susan (Bob) Ohlson of Fort Collins, CO, brother; Donald (Pam) Garrick of North Platte, NE; as well as several nieces nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen Garrick; her brothers, John Garrick Jr, David Garrick, and Mark Garrick; sister-in-law, Sherry Bryant; and her brother-in-law, Dusty Gustin.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Harvest Christian Fellowship in North Platte, Nebrasa with the Reverend Jeremy Rinke officiating, followed by the burial at Floral Lawns Cemetery near North Platte. Visitation will be at 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with family receiving friends from 5:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Special Olympics or Harvest Christian Church.
Carpenter Memorial Chapel is entrusted with arrangements. Services will be held following all current health directives regarding Covid-19.
