North Platte , NE - Students across North Platte are getting ready to trade in their summer schedules for backpacks and early mornings as both public and parochial schools kick off the new school year next week.
For North Platte Public Schools, the week begins with fall sports practices starting Monday, August 11, followed by a busy slate of events. On Wednesday, August 13, classes will start for Kindergarten through 9th grade, with 10th through 12th graders returning on Thursday, August 14.
North Platte Catholic Schools will also welcome students back on a staggered schedule. Wednesday, August 13 will mark the first day for 7th and 9th graders, while all grade levels will be back in class starting Thursday, August 14.
The week will also feature community events, including a volleyball parents meeting Monday evening at the Dawg House, and a softball scrimmage at Dowhower Field on Tuesday at 5 p.m., where admission is a bottle of Gatorade.
