The Nebraska soccer team begins its regular season this week at home against Southern Indiana and Missouri State after tying a pair of exhibition matches.
Thursday’s game against the Screaming Eagles is set for 7:05 p.m. and Sunday’s contest against the Bears will be played at 1:05 p.m. Both games will take place at Hibner Stadium and be streamed on B1G+. - NU has 11 regular-season home games scheduled for its 11th season at Hibner Stadium in 2025, which includes five non-conference matches and six Big Ten contests. Additionally, the Big Red hosted one exhibition.
- Nebraska grabbed victories over Drake, Iowa State and Wyoming during the 2024 spring season. The Huskers drew a tie in both of their exhibition matches -- 0-0 at South Dakota State and 1-1 against Colorado State.
- The Big Ten Preseason Poll and Players to Watch were released on Monday. The Big Red’s Players to Watch include Reagan Raabe, Lauryn Anglim and Sadie Waite. Nebraska was tabbed No. 12 in the preseason poll.
- NU returns 10 letterwinners from last season, along with sixth-year Raabe. She was injured in both 2023 and 2024, but was a third-team All-Big Ten honoree in 2021 and 2022. Raabe scored the Huskers’ lone goal of their exhibition matches, her first net since Sept. 11, 2022.
- The Huskers welcome 15 newcomers in 2025, including 13 freshmen and two transfers. Alyse Then previously competed at Daytona State and SUNY, while Jo Sees comes to the Big Red from Kansas State.
- Last season, goalie Cece Villa ranked second in the Big Ten with 4.89 saves per game.
- During the 2024 season, the Huskers averaged 1,437 fans per game at Hibner Stadium, second most in Husker history and 11th in the nation. NU added a total attendance of 12,933, which ranked 18th nationally.
- Head Coach John Walker enters his 32nd season, alongside assistant coaches Savanah Anderson-Baer (third season), Ian Bridge (10th season) and Dan Ball (first season). Walker has a 371-203-62 record in his career and has coached all 31 seasons in Nebraska soccer history.
Scouting the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles
- Southern Indiana went 5-9-5 last season with a 4-2-3 mark in Ohio Valley Conference competition. The Screaming Eagles’ season ended in the quarterfinals of the OVC Tournament with a 2-1 loss to Morehead State.
- After facing NU, Southern Indiana will take on Cleveland State.
- Head coach Eric Schoenstein is in his 10th season with the Screaming Eagles and owns a 79-61-30 record both at Southern Indiana and in his career.
Scouting the Missouri State Bears
- Missouri State amassed a record of 13-5-3 last season and boasted a 9-0-1 mark in Missouri Valley Conference play. The Bears won the MVC Tournament to qualify for the NCAA Tournament, where they fell to Iowa in the first round.
- Missouri State will take on Kansas on Thurs., Aug. 14 before the game against NU. The Bears will then host Kansas City in their home opener.
- Head coach Kirk Nelson is in his fourth season both at Missouri State and as a head coach. He holds a record of 37-14-10.
