Jean L. Chrisp, 69, of North Platte, NE formerly of Hershey, NE passed away on November 23, 2023 at Linden Court from complications related to Parkinson’s.
Jean was born in Callaway, NE on November 5, 1954, a twin (Jane) to Dean E. Chrisp and Ruth I. (Romans) Chrisp.
He and his siblings attended Cliff Table Country School until the 6th grade. He then completed school in Arnold, NE graduating in 1973. He attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln for one year.
In 1975, Jean and Delila (Smith) were united in marriage and were blessed with two sons, Daniel and Caleb.
Jean and Marla (Koubek) were later married in Laramie, WY in 2002.
Jean had a varied career and held several jobs, beginning in Cozad, NE with Dawson Ditch Co., then upon moving to Wyoming he worked for several years as a hunting guide, trucking contractor, general contractor, and in agriculture. He then worked for the Natural Resources Conservation Service in both Wyoming and South Dakota. Following his tenure with NRCS he was hired with the U.S. Forest Service in Wyoming, and retired from Forest Service after 20 years of service in Chadron, NE. Jean was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting, fishing, trapping, and camping.
Those left to cherish Jean’s memory are his wife of 21 years, Marla of North Platte; mother, Ruth of Auburn; sons, Daniel (Margarita) Chrisp of Beaverton, OR, and Caleb (Steph) Chrisp of Allison Park, PA; granddaughter, Addison of Burlington, WY; grandson, Dean of Allison Park, PA; brothers, Lynn (Michele) Chrisp of Hastings, and Kent Chrisp of Seward; twin sister, Jane (Rich) Andrew of Auburn; uncle, Duane Romans of Arnold; step-sisters, Candi and Tammy of WY; and several nieces, nephews; cousins; and beloved friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dean Chrisp.
A celebration of Jean’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte with Pastor Brett Hathaway, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Hershey-Sutherland Fire and Rescue, Corner Stone Church in North Platte, or to Hershey Baptist Church.
