Marjorie Ann Boesen, 95, of North Platte, NE passed away peacefully on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Linden Court.
Marjorie was born in Nebraska City, Nebraska on December 27, 1928 to Ernest and Josephine Knoll. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 70 years, Marvin; and her sister Louise. She attended Catholic school in Nebraska City and Nebraska Business College in Omaha. An early adventurer, she travelled in the late 1940s with a friend via train from Omaha to Denver, taking a bus to Rocky Mountain National Park to ride horses and see the mountains.
She met Marvin at a dance in Nebraska City and they were married on August 1, 1953. In 2023 they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with many friends and relatives. Marge was a loving and dutiful wife and mother of three boys: Mike, Mark, and Monte. She raised the boys as Catholics and guided them to be good men. Throughout her life, she lived in many places across Nebraska, following her husband’s career, before making North Platte their forever home in 1969. Marjorie was the office administrator at the American General Life Insurance office in North Platte for 25 years. Later, upon retirement, Marvin and Marge travelled and wintered in Rockport, TX where they enjoyed the friendship of fellow snowbirds. Wherever she went, she made friends, always wanted to try something new, and if it included fun, so much the better.
A gifted artist, she created myriads of pastel and oil works for her home and family as well as crafting beautiful quilts from treasured materials. She was rewarded in life with many friends and social groups including the Water Lily Water Aerobics for over 40 years, Mahjongg league, and the Holy Spirit rosary group. Through her strong faith, humor, and good-natured soul, she found joy in life that also brought much joy to others.
Marjorie is survived by her three sons: Mike (Lisa) of Fort Collins, Colorado; Mark (Patty) of Machesney Park, Illinois; and Monte (Jackie) of Malcolm, Nebraska; grandchildren: Christopher (Tomball, Texas) and Matthew (Cypress, Texas), Michelle (Mito, Japan) and Mark Jr. (Gurnee, Illinois), Heather Lovejoy (Roscoe, Illinois), Andrea Featherston (Roscoe, Illinois), John (Cambridge, Massachusetts), Kyler (Pingree Grove, Illinois); and great grandchildren: Brooke and Beau (Tomball, Texas), Penelope (Cypress, TX), and many nieces and nephews.
Inurnment will be at Loup Fork Cemetery in Boelus, Nebraska with many generations of Marvin’s paternal ancestors.
The family would like to express gratitude for the care she received at Linden Court for the final years of her life.
