William Darwin Hanlon, a skilled Millwright and Carpenter, passed away on June 27,2024, in Imperial, Nebraska. Born on February 10, 1942, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to William and Vivian (Sheeley) Hanlon, William's journey was one of dedication and craftsmanship.
William grew up and attended school in Sioux Falls, graduating from Washington High in Sioux Falls.
He proudly served in the Navy and received an Honorable Medical Discharge during his time of service. Apart from his military service, William's talents and passion for woodworking shone through in his career as a Millwright and Carpenter, where he left a lasting impact with his meticulous work.
Outside of work, William found joy in creating birdhouses and honing his woodworking skills. His love for these hobbies showcased his creativity and attention to detail. William also enjoyed being a member of the Free Mason MO, Moose Lodge and American Legion organizations.
William will be dearly missed by his surviving family and friends including his sons, James Hanlon, Wade Hanlon, daughter Sally Miles, ex-wife Carol Hanlon, brother, Dave Hanlon (Pat Borovsaky) and girlfriend, Joyce Groves; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
William was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Gwen Connley and sister-in-law, Heddy Hanlon.
Private family services will be held later.
