Gary Glenn Jesse, 81, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away surrounded by his loving wife and family on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Great Plains Health Hospital.
Gary was born on January 21, 1943 in Akron, Colorado, the son of Everett Orville Jesse and H. Ardis (Nichols) Jesse. When Gary was a small boy the family moved to Curtis, NE where he attended grade school and high school, graduating in 1961. Following high school he joined the U.S. Army. When Gary came home from the service he met his wife, Joyce Roethemeyer. They were married on June 4, 1965, in Wellfleet, NE and together they were blessed with four children: Michael, Matthew, Wayne and Shawna. Gary loved camping, fishing, and hunting in his younger years. As he got older, he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Gary worked for the state department of roads for 2 years before working for K.N. Energy until his retirement. Gary will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was predeceased by infant sons, Wayne and Matthew; parents, Everett and Ardis; brother, E.O. “Shorty” Jesse; in-laws, Melvin and Elda Roethemeyer; and brother in laws, Denny Geiser, Jim Brown, Stanley and Randy Roethemeyer.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Joyce; son, Michael (Leann) Jesse of AZ; daughter, Shawna (Kirt) Matson of McCook; granddaughters, Brittany Bauer of Omaha, Katelyn and Haley Jesse of AZ; sister, Deanna (Mark) Foradori of Kearney; brother, Dwayne (Linda) Jesse of McCook; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Brenda Lee officiating. Burial will be private for the family. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for future designation.
