An afternoon of free food, music, and family fun is set to take over Cody Park as Kids in the Park returns to North Platte on Friday, April 11, offering both entertainment and resources focused on early childhood development.

The annual event, hosted by Communities for Kids Lincoln County, will run from 2 to 5 p.m. at Cody Park, 1601 North Jeffers Street. Families from across the area are invited to attend at no cost and take part in a wide range of activities designed for young children.

Kids in the Park serves as the grand finale of the Week of the Young Child, a nationwide celebration that highlights the importance of early learning, strong families, and supportive communities. The event brings together local early childhood programs, community partners, and organizations to provide hands-on activities, educational resources, and opportunities for connection.

This year’s event will feature a variety of attractions, including free food, games, and inflatable bounce houses from Fun Jumpz. A new addition for 2026 is a karaoke stage hosted by Jax Jams, giving kids and families a chance to step into the spotlight and enjoy live performances throughout the afternoon.

Organizers say the goal of Kids in the Park is not only to create a fun and memorable experience for children, but also to connect families with services and programs that support early development. Attendees can explore booths from local organizations, learn about available resources, and engage in interactive activities that promote learning through play.

The event has become a popular annual tradition in North Platte, drawing families together for an afternoon that blends entertainment with education in a welcoming, community-centered environment.
