Theodore Franklin “Ted” Dowhower, 66 of North Platte, passed away June 27, 2023 at Great Plains Health. He was born February 3, 1957 to Franklin and Eleanor (Flint) Dowhower in North Platte.
Ted attended and then graduated from North Platte High School in 1975. He hired on with Union Pacific Railroad as a machinist and retired on February 3, 2017. He married Brenda Bradley on December 21, 1974 in Arvada, CO. They moved South of Tryon where he loved to be, close to his family’s homestead.
Ted enjoyed woodworking, fishing, pickle ball, and travelling to Yuma, AZ where they wintered the last six years. He helped many people with mechanical repairs in McPherson County and liked to overhaul tractors. Ted was an excellent carpenter and loved to build.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda of North Platte; mother, Eleanor “Jean” Dowhower of North Platte; children, Dirk (Serena) Dowhower of North Platte, Tim (Ashley) Dowhower of Lincoln, Wendi Thompson of North Platte; grandchildren, Layne Dowhower, Franklin (Morgan) Dowhower, Nathan Dowhower, Kadence Dowhower, Calvin (Rose Hackbarth) Dowhower, Sierra (Curtis Tagwerker) Dowhower, Emma Dowhower, Molly Carson, Ronni (Miklo Yanes) Dowhower, Shyann Gilbert, Teddy (Reagan Hudson) Gilbert, Jonathan Gilbert; great grandchildren, Isabella, Franklin, Mia; siblings, Lucy (Jeff) Maxwell of Lemoyne, Thomas (Debra) Dowhower of North Platte, Susie Empfield of North Platte, Jeffrey Dowhower of North Platte; numerous other family members and many friends.
Ted was preceded in death by his father, Franklin; sister, Glenna Dowhower.

Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, July 3, 2023 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home with Pastor Wade Hudson officiating. Those wishing to sign the register book may do so noon-5:00 P.M., Friday, June 30, 2023 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
