NORTH PLATTE, NEB – Union Pacific announced over the weekend they have sold out of tickets to take a once in a lifetime opportunity to ride in the cab of Big Boy NO. 4014. The fundraiser is being put on by the Union Pacific Railroad Museum.
Union Pacific originally was auctioning off a ticket to the winner with the highest bid but was forced to change due to the bidder having “manipulated” the auction process in a statement released by Union Pacific. Union Pacific instead sold two tickets at $9,500 a piece that went on sale Friday at 5 p.m. and they sold out very quickly.
The once in a lifetime experience will take place from Pine Bluffs, Wyoming to Cheyenne, Wyoming on July 3rd. The train ride will take about an hour to complete. All proceeds are going towards the Union Pacific Railroad Museum.
