One man has died after an accident near Chadron.
On Monday, July 27 at approximately 7:15 p.m. the Dawes County Sheriff's Office and Dawes County Attorney/Coroner were contacted to investigate a single vehicle accident on Slim Buttes Road, northeast of Chadron.
67 year-old Mark Goings of Pine Ridge, South Dakota was pronounced dead on the scene.
44 year-old Tom Goings was flown by helicopter to Rapid City, South Dakota for injuries in the accident.
Dawes County Attorney/Coroner Vance Haug said Mark Goings lost control of his vehicle causing it to roll.
"Though the cause of the accident is still under inquiry, the preliminary investigation indicates that the accident appears to have been caused by excessive speeds," said Haug. "Further information will be released when available."
