
Karen I. “Kim” Sis, age 67, of McCook, passed away suddenly at her home on Sunday, September 19, 2021. Kim, as her friends called her, was born in St Louis, MO., on November 27, 1953 to Charles and Delores (Riegelski) Marlow. She graduated from High School in 1971. Kim attended McCook Community College, studying accounting and business communication. While traveling with a friend to Denver, she met Marc Sis. The couple dated and were married on May 14, 1976, at St. John’s Catholic Church in rural Kansas, near Atwood.
Kim enjoyed many jobs in her career. She was an accountant for Burns Laboratory, and loved cooking for her residents during her time as kitchen manager at Highland Park. She also had worked for the Chamber of Commerce, Redman's Shoe Store, Subway, and Schmick’s Grocery.
Kim was a great cook, and loved to share this gift with those around her. She had many talents: drawing and sketching, designing, writing poetry and stories. She enjoyed solving her puzzles, and was great at Scrabble. She was an avid pet lover, and had many pets that she loved dearly, especially their cat “Toots.” She enjoyed keeping bird feeders in her backyard, and enjoyed watching the many birds and squirrels that shared their yard. Kim and Marc recently traveled to Ogden, Utah, to visit their daughter Ruby, and son-in-law Chris. They have spent recent years traveling to see family in St. Louis, MO., Grand Junction, CO., and Omaha.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Delores; brother-in-law, Dave Tripodi; sister-in-law, Janet Marlow; niece, Alisha Manhal.
Kim is survived by her husband of 45 years, Marc; daughter, Ruby (Chris) Hackett of Ogden, UT.; son, Sam Sis of Omaha, NE.; three sisters: Dorene Manhal of St. Louis, MO., Linda Tripodi of St. Louis, MO., Janice (Rick) Berby of Vancouver, WA.; brother, Charles (Sunny) Marlow of Sequim, WA.
Memorial Service will be held at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. with Jim Jones facilitating. A private family inurnment will take place at a future date. Memorials may be left in Kim’s name to the McCook Humane Society. Friends may leave online condolences at herrmannfh.com.
