The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office is taking part in a High Visibility Traffic Enforcement campaign aimed at reducing speeding across the county.
The enforcement effort runs from July 27 through August 9, with deputies increasing patrols and conducting traffic stops with a primary focus on speeding violations.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), speeding was a contributing factor in 29% of all traffic fatalities in 2024. Officials say driving too fast increases the risk of losing control of a vehicle, reduces the effectiveness of seat belts, lengthens stopping distances, and increases the severity of crashes.
The Sheriff's Office encourages motorists to slow down, obey posted speed limits, and help keep Lincoln County roads safe during the enforcement period.
