North Platte’s 80’s Baseball Team Seeks Host Families Ahead of Pecos League Home Opener

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — As the 80’s Professional Baseball team returns to North Platte for its season in the Pecos League, organizers are asking the community to step up and support the players by serving as host families.

The team is in need of local households willing to provide players with a place to eat, shower, and sleep during their stay in North Platte for home games. Most players are young adults and described by organizers as responsible and respectful.

“They’re great young men, and with their demanding schedule, you’ll hardly see them during the day,” said team coordinator Nikki Barker. “They spend most of their time training or playing in the evenings.”

Families interested in hosting or learning more about the commitment can contact Barker at 308-534-3879.

The North Platte team is part of the independent Pecos League, which features teams across the western and southern U.S. and provides a platform for aspiring professional players.

The First games begin next Tuesday on the road, and the first home game for the 80’s is Next Friday, May 30 vs. Garden City, Kansas.
