Jose Luiz T. "Joe" Guerra, age 73, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away on July 7, 2021 at home surrounded by family. He was born on January 3, 1948 to Elijio "David" and Mabel (Torres) Guerra in North Platte.
Joe grew up in North Platte and worked for various jobs in Nebraska and Colorado. He married Margarita Luna on January 21, 1967 in North Platte. He hired on at Union Pacific Railroad in 1967 with Maintenance of Way and worked for 33 years, retiring in 2001.
Joe liked to go for drives in the canyons with family and friends. He always had a smile and a greeting for everyone he met. He always waved at everybody. He liked to spend time in the garage listening to music and watching people drive by. Joe loved cars and traveling to Cheyenne to see family every summer. He was a wonderful husband, father, and papa.
Survivors include his wife, Margarita 'Maggie' of North Platte, NE; children, Rudy (Melanie) Guerra of North Platte, NE, Edward (Connie) Guerra of Lincoln, NE, Teresa (Billy) Riley of North Platte, NE, and Leslie (Sonny) Morin of North Platte, NE; thirteen grandchildren, Presley Spudich, Alexander Guerra, T'ea Guerra, Angelina Guerra, Joshua Guerra, Caitlyn, Guerra, TeAnn Riley, Dezman Riley, Raymen Riley, Mariah Floyd, Santana Morin, Emiliano Morin, and Illiana Morin; seven great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Mila, Lumin, Mia, Ayzlee, Jenika, and Cameron; brother Lupe Guerra of Minneapolis, MN; and numerous other family members and many friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Elijio 'David' & Mabel (Torres) Gueerra; a grandson, Jaime; brother Cecil Guerra; sister, Delores Lane; and special person, "Brandon."

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 16, 2021 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in North Plate, Nebraska with deacon Matt Irish officiating. Christian Wake Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Visitation will be held from noon to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte, which is in charge of arrangements.
