Sue Ann Ryan, 80, of North Platte, NE passed away peacefully to her heavenly home on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Great Plains Health Hospital. She was born on July 7, 1944 in Omaha, NE, the daughter of John Phillip and Dorothy May (Hadden) Spencer.
Sue grew up in Omaha and graduated from Benson High School. On April 27, 1973, she married Thomas Edward Ryan in Omaha, NE. She worked hard all her life doing everything from bartending, data entry, medical transcription and even Runza on B & Jeffers late in her life. Her favorite thing though was to spend time with her grandchildren: Sarah, Philip, Chloe, Stephen, Paige, Quinn, Colin, Drew, Carol, Crystal, Tyler and Todd. Sue was active in her faith and a member of Harvest Christian Fellowship in North Platte where she had several close friends and loved ones. She looked forward to spending time with them each week, usually at Bible study or Saturday morning coffee. She was known and loved as “Grandma Sue” by generations of friends, dancers and gymnasts and she wore that as a badge of honor. Her greatest purpose in life was raising the next generation of kids.
Sue’s memory will be cherished by her children, Paul Gruenwaldt (Patricia) of Valley, NE, Laurie Kalcevic (Rudy) of Goldsboro, NC, and Matt Ryan (Michelle) of Omaha; 15 grandchildren and step grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and step great grandchildren; sister, Jeni Hansen of Carlisle, PA; brothers, Edward Spencer (Linda) of Omaha, and John Spencer (Susan) of Columbia, MD; and several nieces and nephews along with more friends than can be listed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made Harvest Christian Fellowship Church in North Platte.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2024 at Harvest Christian Fellowship Church with Pastor Jeremy Rinke officiating. Family will receive friends at a luncheon following the service in the fellowship hall. Private interment will be at Fort McPherson National Veterans Cemetery, near Maxwell. Carpenter Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
