Dennis M. Smith, 72, of North Platte, passed away October 11, 2022 at the Nebraska Med Center in Omaha. He was born April 9, 1950 to George and Audrey (Towne) Smith in North Platte.
Dennis grew up in North Platte and Harrisburg, Nebraska. He graduated from North Platte High School in 1969. He helped his Uncle in the hayfields. Then went to work for the City of North Platte, He started out in the sanitation department and finished as a mechanic, where he worked for over 30 years.
Dennis married Penny Blythman and to this union three children were born: Dennis, Victor, and Bobbie Jo. He later married Sandra Clark and to this union a daughter was born: Shantel. Dennis helped raise Sandra’s two boys, Tren and Brad Clark.
Dennis liked to hunt and fish, work on cars, ride motorcycles, and attend his grandkids sporting events.
Survivors include six children, Tren (Melissa) Clark, of California, Dennis (Angie) Smith of Maxwell, Brad Clark of North Platte, Victor Smith of North Platte, Bobbie Jo Smith of Bellevue, Shantel Clark of North Platte; sister, Cheryl (Gene) Stanley of Salina, KS; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were parents, George and Audrey; brother, Marvin; sister, Melvena; and grandson, Aaron Smith.

Services will be held 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at Adams & Swanson Funeral home with Ron Jay officiating. The service will be livestreamed on the Adams & Swanson website for those unable to attend. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
