Stanley John Spahn, age 90, lifetime resident of McCook, NE passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Community Hospital in McCook.

Stanley was born October 25, 1931 in McCook to parents Nick and Mary (Brenning) Spahn. He was one of five siblings who grew up in McCook, graduating from McCook High School with the Class of 1950.  Following high school, Stanley enlisted in the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country as staff sergeant and air police until his Honorable Discharge in 1954.
On May 12, 1956, Stanley married the love of his life, Shirley Ann (Landi) Spahn in McCook. The couple was blessed with two daughters, Teresa and Beverly.  Over the years, Stanley worked as a police officer for 17 years with the McCook Police Department.  Then following, he was employed at Dayco until retirement at which time he became a part time security guard at Dayco.  He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting and watching Husker football and baseball.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Elmer, Edward and infant brother, Raymond; and his sister, Ruth Spahn.
Those left to celebrate his life include his wife, Shirley Spahn of McCook; daughters, Teresa (Keith) Powell of Malcolm, NE and Beverly (Chuck) Madden of North Platte, NE; two grandchildren, Marissa (Shane) Cumming of North Platte and their children, Harlow and Adley, and Chantal Powell of Malcolm; as well as a host of extended family members and life long friends. 

Memorial contributions are suggested in Stanley’s name for future designation and may be directed to Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, c/o the Spahn Family, PO Box 476, McCook, NE 69001.

Visitation with family present to greet friends will be held from 5 to 7pm on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Pastor Barry Johnson officiating. 
Burial with Military Honors will follow, beginning at 2pm, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, NE.
