
Sheila Marlene Jobman, age 76 of Omaha, Nebraska, formerly of Gothenburg, Nebraska, passed away on March 10, 2021 in Omaha, NE. She was the third of four children born to Alan Ray and Florence
Mary (Behms) at Imperial, Nebraska.
Sheila was raised on the family farm 3 miles southeast of Lamar, Nebraska and graduated from Chase County High School in Imperial, Nebraska with the class of 1961. Then she continued her education at Kearney State College (now the University of Nebraska at Kearney). After 2 years of college, she began teaching in Lexington, Nebraska and continued her college education with summer school and night classes in order to graduate from Kearney State College in a total of 5 years while teaching for 3 years during those 5 years.
She married Gerald Jobman on December 26, 1965 at Lexington, Nebraska and moved onto the family farm northeast of Gothenburg where Gerald was raised in December 1967. Sheila and Gerald became the parents of two children: Tregg Robert and Tracy Kay. In 1995 they moved into Gothenburg, retiring from farming, and then moved to Omaha in 2016 to be closer to their son.
Sheila loved learning and found that computers were very fascinating and spent many hours on her "Mac" computers. Teaching adults over 55 was a joy to her as she shared her knowledge of and love for computers with them. She also substitute taught for about 25 years in the computer department at the Gothenburg High School. Genealogy became a hobby that took her to many different states where her ancestors had lived. She enjoyed walking on what had once been the land of her ancestors and contemplate their life and what it meant to her life.
She was a 50-year member of the United Methodist Church, holding many offices in the First United Methodist Church of Gothenburg, running the sound system, creating power points for the worship services, and teaching many Bible studies. She also served as a Certified Lay Speaker in the United Methodist Church for over 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald (Jerry) Jobman; grandparents Charles and Agnes Cooper and Joe and Lena Behms; her parents Alan and Florence Cooper; her brother Gary; and infant sister, Sharon Kay.
Survivors include her son Tregg (Vicki) Jobman of Omaha, Nebraska and daughter Tracy (Rocky) D'Andrea of Dover, New Hampshire; nine grandchildren: Christy, Dan, Tim, Karissa, Savannah, and Cassie Jobman; Nick Lahowetz; Nick and Tony D'Andrea; also one great-granddaughter, Ava Jobman; her sister Linda (Jerry) Varilek of Lamar; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ron and Sandy Jobman of Kearney; aunts, Thelma Mathes of Aberdeen, South Dakota and Laura Knapp of Cortez, Colorado; in addition to extended family and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, March 22, 2021, 1:00PM - 6:00 PM at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg, NE.
