Larry Sherman “The Bear” Clark, Sr., 84 of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away March 10, 2023, at his home in North Platte.  He was born December 18, 1938, to Sherman Franklin and Ethyl Clark in Superior, Nebraska.

Larry grew up in North Platte.  Early in his life, he worked for his father in the concrete business.  Later he worked in the hay fields before entering the U.S. Navy at the age of 17.  Larry served on the USS Wisconsin as a steam engine mechanic.  After his discharge he returned to North Platte.  Larry hired on with the UPRR on August 14, 1961, as a conductor/brakeman.  He retired June 1999. 

He was united in marriage to Kathryne Hewitt on December 22, 1987, in North Platte.  Larry loved to fish, he could fix anything and was an extremely hard worker and very organized.  Everything had a place in his world. 

Larry is survived by his wife, Kathryne, North Platte, Nebraska; 3 children, Larry (Camalynn) Clark, Jr., Gretna, Nebraska, Katrina Clark, North Platte, Nebraska, Randy (Charlotte) Clark, North Platte, Nebraska; step-daughter, Jennifer Lee-Ann Brown, North Platte, Nebraska; grandchildren, Christopher (Kristen) Hedgecock, Jordan Forstrom, Calvin Ramirez, Lawrence Beal, Bobby Fryer, Derek (Becky) Lundin, Randi Lee (Curtis Johnson) Clark, Tyler (Kylee) Clark, Georgia Brown, Jacob (Hanna) Brown; great-grandchildren, Brynnley Hedgecock, Owen Hedgecock, Weston Hedgecock, Avery Forstrom, Hailey Forstrom, Isabella Beal, Raylynn Lundin, Lexi Lundin, Wade Lundin, Caine Johnson, Makenna Clark, Olivia Brown; siblings, Marilyn (Russ) Bellew, North Platte, Nebraska, Jann Qualls, North Platte, Nebraska, Dick (Linda) Clark, California, Sharon (Mick) Leth, Grand Island, Nebraska; along with numerous other family members and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Ethyl Clark, brother-in-law, Milburn Qualls.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska.  Pastor Bill Reeves will be officiating.  Visitation will be from noon – 7:00 P.M., Tuesday with family present from 5 -7 to receive friends at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.
