
Ramona DeHerrera-Sandberg, age 92, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Linden Court in North Platte.
Born on October 19, 1929 in Mora, New Mexico, she was the daughter of John and Serafina (Padilla) Maes. She was married on June 10, 1948 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Gregg DeHerrera.
Ramona built a beautiful life and home with Gregg until his passing in 1983. She was then blessed to meet her 2nd husband, Ivan Sandberg. Ramona was an active volunteer and member of the North Platte community. She enjoyed serving breakfasts and funeral meals as a member of the Eagles Club Auxiliary. She was a member of the PTA, Union Pacific Railroad Jr. Old Timers, and Old Timers, as well as a volunteer with the Special Olympics for several years. Ramona lived a long and vibrant life rich with much laughter, love, and dear friendships along the way. The greatest joys of her life were her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish Ramona’s memory are her loving and devoted husband of 40 years, Ivan Sandberg; daughter, Sandra Halouska of Westminster, CO; son, Danny DeHerrera of Colorado; grand-daughters, Jody Halouska of Westminster, CO and Jill Halouska (Ilan Haddad) of Paris, France; great-grand-daughter, Greer Halouska, of Westminster, CO.
The family wishes to acknowledge with heartfelt appreciation and love the caregivers who served as angels on earth to Ramona in her final years, enabling her to remain in her beloved home, Beth Thompson, Kelli Smith, Barb Roebuck, Janine Layher, Marla Bain, and Alana Vieyra. Also special acknowledgement to the exceptional care and compassion shown by Julie Todd, who became a part of the family, blessing Ramona during the most difficult declining years of her health.
Ramona was preceded in death by her parents, John and Serafina; her first husband, Gregg; and by a daughter, Candace.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2022 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte, Nebraska with Chaplain Ned Cooper officiating. The service will be livestreamed for those unable to attend the service at the funeral home website: www.carpentermemorial.com.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 8th at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family for future designation.
