
Thomas Snyder Yost of Maxwell, NE, passed away in Omaha following recent health complications on February 12, 2022, at the age of 89.
Thomas was born in North Platte on September 21, 1932, the son of Harry
and Nellie Snyder Yost. He grew up in the hills south of Maxwell and
attended Box Elder Canyon School for eight years, Maxwell Public School
for two years then Sutherland High School, which he graduated from in 1950.
On October 25, 1953, Tom married Janice Young in Hershey and they lived on the Yost family farm. Tom worked on the farm until being drafted into the U.S. Army in October 1954. Following his honorable discharge in 1955 he returned to the farm to help his dad and continued farming until 1984. Tom then went to work for Lincoln County Department of Roads in the Maintenance Department until retiring in 2012. His retirement years were spent enjoying life and restoring tractors, Farmalls only!
Tom was active in 4-H horse shows, was a licensed pilot, and proud
member of the NRA. He also took care of the Plainview Cemetery for
several years. He was a member of the Maxwell Baptist Church most of his life and attended Riverside Baptist Church in North Platte. Tom loved
his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry; mother and stepfather,
Nellie Snyder Yost and Frank Lydic; sons, Stephen and Stanley; and two brothers.
Tom is survived by his wife, Janice, of Maxwell; sons, David (Merrilee)
Yost, of Valentine and Rodney Yost (Jennifer Cotton), of North Platte;
daughters, JoAnn (Jim) Morphew, of North Platte and Kandice (Dallas)
Dodson, of Valentine; grandchildren, Angie (Dean) Wintermote, Niki
(Mike) Morgan, Jeremy (Stephanie) Morphew, Jason Morphew, Jessica (Brad) Thompson, Joshua (Sarah) Morphew, Matthew (Heather) Yost, Andrew (Jessie) Yost, Brittney (Justin) Dailey, Devin (Julia) Dodson and Nate (Beth) Dodson; 25 great-grandchildren; a great great-grandson; and other family.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at the
Maxwell Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery.
Visitation is 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C
