Great Plains Health
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (December 3, 2024) — A leading healthcare accreditation organization has recognized Great Plains Health for excellence in overall hospital care and two specialty programs. The Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality (CIHQ) awarded the hospital:
• Full hospital accreditation
• Primary Stroke Center certification
• Joint Replacement Center certification
During an on-site evaluation Oct. 15, CIHQ surveyors reviewed medical records, observed patient care and interviewed staff across all departments, focusing on safety measures, patient care standards and healthcare outcomes.
"This accreditation touches every corner of our hospital," said Barb Petersen, chief quality officer. "From our environmental services team to our surgeons, everyone played a part in meeting these national standards. It confirms what I see every day — our team's total commitment to quality care."
The hospital's Primary Stroke Center certification validates its ability to provide rapid response and advanced care for stroke patients, while the Joint Replacement Center certification recognizes excellence in orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation services. These specialized certifications highlight Great Plains Health's expanding role as a regional healthcare leader.
"CIHQ's goal is to partner with hospitals to improve the care provided in our communities," said Richard Curtis, chief executive officer of CIHQ. "CIHQ is proud to recognize Great Plains Health for achieving accreditation."
The accreditation and certifications demonstrate Great Plains Health's compliance with national healthcare standards and Medicare requirements and ensures the community has access to quality care that meets the highest national standards.
