Gloria I. Burke, 89, of North Platte, NE passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Linden Court.

Gloria was born on August 31, 1933 in Curtis, NE the daughter of Winfred “Bud” and Georgia (Nichols) Easton.  Gloria grew up in Curtis and graduated from the Curtis School of Agriculture where she would meet her future husband, Charles Burke.  She married Charles Burke in 1951 in Curtis and together they had 5 children.  Gloria was a hardworking and dedicated mother and was known for her wonderful cooking.  She worked for various businesses over the years including 6th Street in North Platte, shoe sales and bookkeeping at a bank while living in Lincoln, and later upon moving back to North Platte as bookkeeper of her and her husband’s mobile home business.  She also enjoyed running a local motel and numerous rental properties.  She was an animal lover, especially cats.

Those left to cherish Gloria’s memory are her children Cindy Douglas (Mike) of Mt. Vernon, IA; John Burke (Pam) of North Platte, Fred Burke (Sherrie) of North Platte, Joe Burke of North Platte, and Angie Hornyak (Ron) of Sutherland; grandchildren, Mike Douglas, Jr. (Melissa), Tiffani Douglas (fiancée Denton Williams), Melanie Burke-Marshall (Terry Bates), Jay Burke, Sara Bolser (Nate), Eric Joseph Burke, Josh Houchin, Rachel Burke, Amanda Streeter (Mike), Nichole Hornyak (Colter Johnson), Stephanie Hornyak (Keith Morris); 27 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Eileen Merrihew of North Platte.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; granddaughter, Laura Burke; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Terri Lea Burke.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the family for future designation.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2022 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Pastor Clint Walker officiating.  Burial will follow in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.  A visitation and book signing will be held on Thursday, November 10th from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.
