Larry Lee Hall, age 83, of McCook, passed away at Hillcrest Nursing Home on April 29, 2023.

He was born on July 6, 1939 to Franklin and Treva (Greenlee) Hall. He grew up on a farm in Frontier County. He graduated from Red Willow High School in 1957 where he drove the school bus for his ride to school. He went to work at Boeing in Wichita. He returned to help with the family farm after his dad suffered a heart attack.

On December 20, 1960, he was united in marriage to Judy Gross at Memorial Methodist Church in McCook. To this union four living children were born: Gregory, Michael, Jeffory and Joanne.

Larry worked several jobs with Missouri Valley. He started out as a cement truck driver but after they found out he could weld and had mechanic skills he worked mainly in the shop. He would work on interstate bridges by welding stringers by the day and help pour concrete at night. He later went to work at Edwards Machine Shop as a machinists and welder. He continued to love farming and would farm on the weekend when Judy inherited the farm ground in Kansas. Larry and Judy enjoyed traveling when they could and some of their adventures included St Louis, Branson, Pacific Ocean and parts of the western US.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Treva; sisters and their spouses Ardis and Billy Callan and Phyllis and Gerald Greenlee; in-laws Vern and Ruth (Fikan) (Gross) Edwards and father-in-law Joe Edwards; great grandchildren Nicholas and Nathan Hall and Lily Froistad; and numerous other angels taken too soon from several generations of his family.

Larry is survived by his wife, Judy of McCook of 62 years; sons Greg and Carri, Mike and Dawn, Jeff and daughter Joni and Mack Kivlehen all of McCook; 3 grandchildren and their spouses and 5 great grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be on May 5, 2023 at 2:00 and will take place at Carpenter-Breland Funeral Home. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left in Larry’s name to Hillcrest Nursing Home Special Care Unit or Community Home Health and Hospice.
