Ira Hugh Mills Jr., 70, of North Platte, passed away March 13, 2024 at home. He was born January 6, 1954 to Ira Sr. and Jean (Martin) Mills in Kansas City, MO.
Ira moved to California as a child and graduated from high school. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1954 and served as a diesel mechanic instructor. He retired after serving 30 years. In 1980, Ira met Yvette Brady in the Army, they married in 1994. The couple lived and served in California and his last duty station was in North Platte where the family ended up staying.
Ira loved his career and traveled the world with the military. He will be remembered as a good husband and father.
Survivors include wife, Yvette of North Platte; children, Monique Mills of California, Ginger Mills of New York, Ira Mills III of Wichita, KS, Kevin Mills of Lincoln; grandchildren, Cordy Mills, Nakia Armstrong, Jamie Armstrong, ZenZen Mills; great grandchildren, Autumn Armstrong, Marcelles Mills, Jasmine Mills; sister, Rhonda Mills of California.
Ira was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Sr. and Jean; sister, Vicki Mills.

Services will be held 9:30 A.M., Monday, March 18, 2024 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home with Deacon Mark Lister officiating. Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell. Visitation will take place before the service. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
