William R. “Bill” Binegar, 87, of North Platte passed away April 21, 2023, at home. He was born August 29, 1935, to Simon and Wilda (Chase) Binegar in Sutherland.

Bill grew up in Sutherland and graduated from Sutherland High School with the class of 1954. He worked at Majors Gas Station in North Platte before enlisting in the United States Air Force. After his discharge, he returned to North Platte and married Karen Kohl on March 12, 1963. To this union, four children were born: Jeff, William, Denise, and Wilda and also welcomed a step-son Kevin into his life.

Bill worked many years for cement products, having made over three million bricks in his career. Many of those bricks were used in The Mall, Voch-Tech building and Gentleman Power Station. He cleaned the VFW, Eagle’s Club and worked at the car wash at B & Jeffers.

Bill was an animal lover and cared for his dogs with the utmost love. He enjoyed going to Rosebud and fishing. He enjoyed talking to people and never knew a stranger.

Survivors include children, Kevin Sutton of North Platte, Jeff Binegar of Alaska, William Binegar of North Platte, Denise Larsen of North Platte, Wilda (Theron) Rookstool of Eustis; grandchildren, Shelby Foster of Omaha, Elaine (Matt) Pelster of North Platte, Justin (Amy) Rookstool of North Platte, Josh Rookstool of Gothenburg, Jessica Binegar of North Platte, Julia (Matt) Kellie of North Platte, Jeremiah W. Binegar of North Platte; 13 great grandchildren; siblings, Donna Samuelson of Oklahoma, Marv Binegar of Oregon; numerous other family members and many friends.

Bill was preceded in death by parents, Simon and Wilda; wife, Karen; grandchildren, Jordan, Chelsea, and Sarah Rookstool; sisters, Lola (Ken) Wurl, Lois Burch, Joy (Wes) Steel; brothers-in-law, Dick Samuelson and Bill Burch.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, April 28, 2023, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Visitation will be held noon-7:00 P.M., with family present 5:00-7:00, Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
