North Platte, Neb. — Jim Riewe announced today that he is running for North Platte City Council, Ward 3, with a platform focused on strengthening the local economy, supporting families, and positioning North Platte as a premier destination along Interstate 80 and Highways 83 and 30.

Riewe’s priorities include attracting more travelers to stop, shop, and stay in North Platte by supporting retail, dining, fueling, and lodging growth that creates jobs and expands local revenue.

“When we bring more people off the highway and into our community, everyone benefits—from local businesses to city services,” Riewe said.

Riewe also emphasized meeting the needs of a diverse and growing community by improving access to essential services that help families feel at home and supported.

A third focus of his platform is positioning North Platte as a regional hub for school events, concerts, and community gatherings—converting through-traffic into local spending that supports local businesses.

“North Platte has a real opportunity to grow in a smart, practical way,” Riewe said. “My goal is to help build a city where families want to stay and visitors want to come back.”
