
Amy Jo Kenney Weiss Bonner-Monasmith was born November 29, 1933, in Norfolk, Nebraska, to Jay and Helen (Lidmilla) Kenney. At the age of seven, Amy was adopted by George and Goldie (Sitzman) Weiss. Amy grew up on the family farm near Imperial, Nebraska, and graduated from Chase County High School in 1951.
On June 1, 1951, Amy married Richard Bonner and the couple first settled in Imperial. They later moved to Sidney, Nebraska, where Amy worked at the Sidney Telegraph Newspaper. In 1991, Amy married Donald Monasmith and the couple made Imperial their home. After Amy moved back to Imperial, she was employed at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home and she also worked numerous part-time jobs.
Amy was a member of the Imperial Lions Club. She enjoyed collecting turtles and working on puzzles. Amy especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Amy passed away Friday morning, April 22, 2022, at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home, Imperial. She was 88 years of age.
Amy was preceded in death by her parents: George and Goldie Weiss; brothers: Donald Weiss, Toby and Richard Kenney; husbands: Richard Bonner and Donald Monasmith; and sisters-in-law: Anne Weiss, Grace Kenney and Mona Kenney.
Survivors Include:
Son: Dick Bonner of Imperial, NE.
Daughter: Cathy Rowley, of York, NE.
Daughter: LaDonna Welch and husband, Jon, of Champion, NE.
Son: Dale Bonner of Omaha, NE.
11 Grandchildren: Angela Williams, Kelly Rowley, Tracy Metz, Michael Rowley, Jeremy Welch, Devin Dreiling, Jessica Lerner, Melissa Lashley, Erica Keller, Holly Jarecke and Tyler Bonner.
25 Great-Grandchildren.
Sister-in-law: Frances Kenney.
Numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services for Amy Bonner-Monasmith will be held Tuesday morning, April 26, 2022, 10:30 A.M. (MT) at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial, with Pastor Matt Maxwell officiating.
As per Amy’s wishes, visitation will not be held.
A memorial, in Amy’s memory, has been suggested to the Bonner Family for a future designation.
