Visit North Platte Honors Tourism Leaders at Annual Excellence in Tourism Awards

Visit North Platte recognized local businesses, volunteers, and organizations during the 7th annual Excellence in Tourism Awards Luncheon held May 6 at Venue 304.

According to Visit North Platte, 48 nominations were submitted by the public across seven categories recognizing outstanding customer service and contributions to tourism throughout Lincoln County. Awards honored excellence in attractions, events, hotels, restaurants, retail, volunteerism, and overall tourism impact.

Among this year’s winners was Cody Park Rides & Concessions, which received the Excellent Service at an Attraction award. The attraction, which dates back to 1950 with its historic carousel, sold more than 45,000 ride tickets and over 75,000 ice cream cones in 2025, while also continuing to draw thousands during the annual Cody Park Santa’s Workshop holiday display.

The Excellent Service at an Event award went to the Sutherland Rodeo Committee for the longstanding Sutherland 4th of July Rodeo. Organizers highlighted the committee’s continued investment in facilities, entertainment, youth programs, and visitor experiences as the nearly 90-year-old rodeo continues attracting competitors and spectators from multiple states.

Cody Odell of Tru by Hilton earned the Excellent Service within a Hotel award for his leadership and guest service efforts in North Platte’s hospitality industry. Visit North Platte noted his work improving operations, team culture, and guest experiences across local Hilton properties.

The Excellent Service within a Restaurant award was presented to Donovan Santos of North 40 Chophouse. Santos was nominated multiple times by community members who praised his welcoming attitude, professionalism, and ability to create memorable experiences for guests. The award was accepted on his behalf by Jayzee Ziegler.

In retail, Tim O’Conor of The Sports Shoppe & Big Red Etc. was recognized for outstanding customer service and community involvement. Nominations highlighted his expertise, commitment to helping customers, and continued support of local programs and fundraising efforts.

The Volunteer of the Year award went to Bryan Solko, who serves and volunteers with numerous organizations and events across the region, including the North Platte Downtown Association, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Posse, Canteen CruiseFest, Nebraska Pony Express Association, and several others.

2026 Hero of Tourism – Pals Brewing Company

The Hero of Tourism award was presented to Pals Brewing Company. Visit North Platte recognized the brewery for helping attract travelers to the community, supporting local events and fundraisers, and partnering with organizations throughout the region to enhance tourism opportunities.

Visit North Platte thanked all tourism partners, nominees, and award winners for their contributions to the success and growth of tourism in Lincoln County.
