NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-Mayor Brandon Kelliher called the North Platte City Council Chambers the "safest place in the county" at the start of last night's meeting as law enforcement officers filled the room.

The men and women in blue and brown were there to support one of their own as Kendall Allison was sworn in as Deputy Chief of Police.

Chief Deputy Allison has been in law enforcement since 1982 when he began as a patrol deputy with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.

In 1988, Allison was hired on by the North Platte Police Department.

Since then, Allison has served 20 years as a sergeant and over two years as a lieutenant. He was promoted to Deputy Chief on Dec. 25, 2022, and officially sworn in at last night's meeting.
