Erwin Gene Fredde, age 84, of McCook, NE passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at Community Hospital in McCook.
Erwin was born November 22, 1940 in Fairbury, NE to parents Albert August and Iva Ione (Henry) Fredde. Erwin grew up in Norton, KS where he attended school, graduating from Norton High School.
Erwin married Bonnie Kay Fredde in 1959. To this union six children were born. On June 29, 1990, Erwin married Patricia (Wakefield) Fredde in McCook.
In Erwin’s younger years, he worked at his dad’s implement mechanic shop. He later opened a sign shop and was also a paint contractor. Shortly after his marriage to his first wife Bonnie, Erwin was a police officer of the City of Norton.
Erwin enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. He loved square dancing with Pat as well as riding his motorcycle and going on 5K road trips. The couple also enjoyed camping together. Erwin was a member of the Honda Goldwing Motorcycle Chapter as well as the Chairman of the Republican River Riders. Edwin’s hobbies included auctioneering, gardening and his flower gardens. He loved nature, feeding the squirrels and birds in his backyard. He will also be remembered for his carpentry skills, painting and artistic ability.
Erwin was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Connie Fredde; infant son, Robert Clay Fredde; and two sisters, Ruth and Evelyn.
Those left to celebrate his life include his beloved wife, Pat Fredde of McCook, NE; three daughters, Kathy (Kerry) Nicholson of Larned, KS, Monica Fredde of North Platte, NE and Heather Fredde of McCook, NE; two sons, Mark Fredde of Salina, KS and David Fredde of Larned, KS; two step daughters, Christine (Lukich) Kier of Grand Island, NE and Jennifer Lukich, and partner Jimmy Harris, of Denver, CO; siblings Janet Rojas and Art Fredde, both of Kansas; four grandchildren, Sean (Jennifer) McKenna of Larned, KS, Jason (Chanda) McKenna of Norton, KS, Alexis Nicholson and Seth Fredde, both of Salina, KS: six step grandchildren, Tiffani, Tonia, Emily, Leighton, Hanna and Kamryn; six great grandchildren, Liliana, Alex and Parker McKenna of Larned, KS and Stratten, Axten and Quaten McKenna of Norton, KS; six step great grandchildren and a host of extended family members and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, McCook
Private family burial of cremains will take place in the Prairie Gem Cemetery, Norton, KS.
