NPCC music department presents end-of-year awards

North Platte Community College music student Christopher Terry, of Grant, was the recipient of two awards during NPCC’s Spring Concert Wednesday evening. He earned the Musician of the Year award and was also presented with the Humanities and Social Sciences’ Division Award.

The North Platte Community College music department has honored four of its students for their accomplishments throughout the year.

Christopher Terry, of Grant; Lisa Pickett, of North Platte; Dylan Rogge, of Fairbury, and Alex McConnell, of Paxton, were recognized Wednesday night during the NPCC Spring Concert in the McDonald-Belton Theater.

Terry received the Musician of the Year award and was also presented with the Humanities and Social Sciences’ Division Award.

Pickett was selected as Vocalist of the Year. Rogge was chosen to be the Instrumentalist of the Year, and McConnell was named Community Member of the Year.

“Lisa, Alex, Chris and Dylan have surpassed my expectations in all that has been asked of them, both in the classroom and in rehearsal,” said Kristin Simpson, music instructor. “They are a reliable, energetic and cheerful group to work with, and I appreciate the time I have had with them. These awards couldn’t go to more deserving individuals.”
