Susan “Sue” Michele Lampman Dack was born on August 26, 1958 in McCook, Nebraska to Merlin and Lorna (Harrison) Hoyt. Sue’s dad's work took the family all over the country to live in such places as Chincoteague Island, Virginia, Maryland and Montana before they planted in California. California would always be where Sue’s heart was. She graduated high school in Cupertino, California with the Cupertino High School class of 1976. Sue then went on to get a CNA license.
She married Bob Lampman on May 7, 1977 in Santa Cruz, California. The couple moved to McCook where their daughter, Nicole was born in 1980. Her son, Joshua was born in 1993 to Sue and Jay Markwith and her final child, Caleb was born in 2000 to Sue and Dale Brown. Sue married Jamie Dack in Culbertson, Nebraska on July 9, 2005. They lived in Denver, Colorado until moving back to McCook where they stayed until Jamie passed in 2018. Sue worked as a CNA in California before moving to Nebraska. She also worked for a contract painter for many years and as a housekeeper.
She enjoyed "various creative endeavors": oil and watercolor painting, knitting, making teddy bears, and collecting rocks and crystals. Growing up she liked to spend as much time at the ocean as possible, of course this included searching for seashells and sand dollars. She was a loving mother that would do anything to protect her children, a grandmother that was fun and carefree, and a friend who would give you her last dollar if you were in need. As a young adult she spent time at the lake and driving in the country listening to classic rock, anything that brought sunshine to her world. In her later years, she found peace at Barnett Park watching the seagulls, snuggling with her cat Ozzy and doing crossword puzzles and sudoku "to keep her mind sharp".
Sue passed away at her home in McCook on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. She was 65 years of age.
